Lisa Coutu has been an associate at the Firm since 2017. She specializes in the areas of personal injury, premises liability, construction, labor law, trucking, commercial vehicle liability, dram shop, medical malpractice, and other general liability matters in New York and New Jersey. Ms. Coutu has successfully defended commercial entities, condominium associations, homeowners associations, and property management companies through alternative dispute resolution, dispositive motion practice, and appeals. She has also successfully argued multiple motions in limine and conducted de bene esse trial depositions in the New Jersey state courts.
Prior to joining Callahan & Fusco, Ms. Coutu was an associate with the New York firm Ekblom & Partners, LLP, where she specialized in medical malpractice, healthcare, and general litigation. In this capacity, Ms. Coutu conducted depositions, prepared and argued substantive motions, and assisted the firm’s trial partner in several medical malpractice trials.
From 2015 to 2016, Ms. Coutu served as the judicial law clerk for the Honorable Mary K. Costello, the Presiding Civil Judge of Hudson County, New Jersey. During this clerkship, she enhanced her legal research and writing skills and learned the intricacies of civil motion practice.
Lisa Coutu received her Juris Doctor degree in 2015 from Georgetown University Law Center. While at GULC, Ms. Coutu served as a student attorney for D.C. Law Students in Court, as a law clerk for the Law Office of Thomas Lester in Washington, D.C., and as a law clerk for Clare Locke, LLP, in Alexandria, Virginia.
During the summer of 2014, Ms. Coutu was a summer associate for Cohn Lifland Pearlman Herrmann & Knopf LLP, where she gained experience in FLSA collective actions and commercial litigation.
