Katlyn Q. Ryan joined the firm as an associate in 2013.  Her practice is primarily focused on special education litigation.  

Ms. Ryan works on behalf of children of various ages and abilities to ensure proper educational placements and services that are in the child’s best interest.  She strives to ensure each child is receiving a Free Appropriate Public Education as guaranteed by Federal and State laws.  She attends in-district meetings on behalf of the family to advocate for their child as well as aid the family in navigating the legal system.  Ms. Ryan appears before the Office of Administrative Law, the United States District Court District of New Jersey, and Impartial Hearing Officers in New York State.  

Ms. Ryan’s contributions to the firm have resulted in Callahan & Fusco, LLC, successfully obtaining hundreds of favorable decisions and settlements on behalf of their clients.  She ascertains that the rights of students of all ages are protected and that their unique educational needs are being addressed.  Ms. Ryan maintains relationships with her clients, and her commitment to the family is continuous as the child progresses.

Ms. Ryan also provides counsel to charter schools and private schools for children with disabilities to ensure that all of their students are receiving the appropriate level of services.  Additionally, she represents and advocates for victims of bullying and discrimination at colleges and universities.  

While in law school, Ms. Ryan gained extensive knowledge of New Jersey civil practice while completing her externship with the City of Newark – Department of Law – Civil Litigation Division. Furthermore, she interned with New Jersey Superior Court – Civil Division – Family Part expanding her experience with New Jersey courts.  Ms. Ryan was a summer associate with Whitman, Breed, Abbott & Morgan, LLC, gaining exposure to several practice areas such as employment, intellectual property, trusts and estates, real estate and land use, construction, and personal injury.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Ryan was a paralegal for three years at a Washington D.C. based employment law firm.  Ms. Ryan worked alongside partners and associates on significant employment and labor law matters in the public and private sectors.
